Becoming eligible for Medicare means there are many decisions to make, and you, no doubt, will have many questions. You may be asking yourself:

  • Should I leave my employer group or individual health plan coverage?

  • What do I do if I'm not retiring?

Then during the Annual Enrollment Period, you are presented with more questions about your annual plan choices. You may be asking yourself:

  • Am I paying for coverage that I don't use?

  • Are there more affordable plans out there?

  • Do I need to change plans because I am now taking new medications or now need vision, hearing and/or dental?

Our experienced representative will help you answer these important questions and much more. We'll guide you through this complicated process, giving you the confidence you need to make these important decisions.

Approaching Medicare Eligibility?

When to Enroll in Medicare Part A & Part B

Turning 65
Soon

  • If you are receiving Social Security benefits and meet the qualifications, you will automatically be enrolled in Medicare.

  • If you are not receiving social security benefits, you have a 7-month eligibility period to enroll.  However, it is recommended that you complete the Medicare Part A and Part B online application 3 months prior to your birth month. You can access the  application here.

Over
65

  • If you are leaving your current employer group, contact the Social Security Administration to enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B.

  • Ideally, you should enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B three months before your current plan terms so you can request the effective date to start the day after and prevent a lapse in coverage.

  • If you wait until your plan terms, you have an 8 month eligibility period. However, to avoid Part D prescription plan penalties, you must enroll in a Part D plan no later than 63 days after your current plan has termed.

Under 65 & Have
a Disability

  • You will automatically be enrolled in Medicare if you have received disability benefits from Social Security for 24 months.
